DotNetMushroom at the DNN Europe Meeting
Posted By:Mifsud Justin/Tags:PANELTAGS

Today we had the opportunity to attend to our first meeting with DotNetNuke Europe and we must say it was an extremely pleasant experience. It felt nice to meet up and discuss our ideas with other professionals who share the similar passion that we have for the DNN platform. We do see a lot of potential in a combination of forces between the members. Needless to mention is the fact that a substantial number of DotNetNuke core developers are active members within DotNetNuke Europe.

While it is not in our competence to divulge details of the discussions, some points that can be mentioned here is that various issues were discussed so as to create a roadmap for the future of DNN Europe community; mainly to set-up the group more formally, to create small working groups addressing specific issues and most important to be coordinated and keep a live channel of communication with DotNetNuke Corporation.

This was mainly a followup of the discussions that took place yesterday - which unfortunately we could not attend. Later on we were joined by members of the DotNetNuke Corporation. Understandably it was a lively discussion covering many varied topics.

Primarily, the hottest issue was about the new business model that DNN has adapted mainly the DNN Community Edition (DNN CE) and the DNN Professional Edition (DNN PE). This issue was very strongly debated and members of the DNN Europe needing more explanations and information as to what advantages will the DNN PE provide to the DNN Professionals.

Also the costs of licensing both to resellers and clients was debated. The introduction of a paid for version of what initially was an Open Source project DNN is relatively still in its infancy so one might expect that tweakings may be introduced to the current business model to address concerns such as those that were brought up. At this point, one could only discuss, propose and see how things evolve. After all, here we are all pulling the same rope here.

And here is the photo we promised to our team back home - Simon, our director, with Mr.Shaun Walker :)
